I’m travelling abroad. Where can I find information on the countries I’m visiting?

We recommend you visit the Foreign Commonwealth Office (FCO) website before you leave for your trip. This website contains up-to-date information about a number of countries travellers may visit, as well as travel advice and tips for those locations.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) also provides travellers with relevant and up-to-date advice and information on countries and current health risks associated with them. If you have any concerns or queries about your destination/s, we recommend checking the WHO site prior to departure. Please note Cover-More cannot be held responsible for any inaccuracies on third party websites such as those above.

What do I do if the FCO and WHO advise against travelling to my chosen destination/s?

It’s important to note you may not be covered by your policy if you travel to a country or area that the Foreign & Commonwealth Office or World Health Organisation have advised people not to travel to. This is because the events are no longer unforeseen.

However, if you bought your Cover-More travel insurance policy prior to the Foreign Commonwealth Office (or an equivalent government or national authority) or the World Health Organisation advising people not to travel to the destination/s you’re intending to visit, our team can help you in the following ways:

  • Our customers with single trip policies can work with us to change their trip start and end dates in the case that the destination is only deemed restricted for a certain period of time.
  • Our customers with annual multi-trip policies have the option to extend their policy expiry date if travel to their chosen locations is only deemed restricted for a certain period of time and they’re required to update the dates of any pre-booked travel that would have otherwise been covered by their period of insurance.
  • Both our single and annual multi-trip customers who’ve purchased our Extra Plan and have to cancel their trips are able to submit claims for any pre-paid costs and costs that are unable to be reimbursed from other sources.
