It wouldn’t be NYE without the chiming of Big Ben at midnight. Join Londoners as they crowd the banks of the Thames and bear witness to a spectacular fireworks show. See London’s night skies light up with vivid colours over the stunning monuments like the London Eye and Palace of Westminster. London continues the celebration with the annual New Year’s Day Parade on 1 January. The main celebration centres on the “Party Mile”, which is a two-kilometre stretch of bars, food stalls, party tents, music stages and laser shows between the Brandenburg Gate and Victory Column. The clock striking midnight sets off a marvellous firework show and then throngs of people head to the many dance floors in Berlin so they can party the night away.

In the city of light you won’t have any shortage of options for how to ring in the New Year. Pop some champagne bottles as you party on the Champs-Élysées and see the Eiffel Tower put on a stunning display of lights and fireworks. If you want to see a different view of the fireworks, then head to Montmarte or take a dinner cruise along the Seine for a more romantic setting. There are plenty of options to enjoy NYE as clubs, bars and restaurants will also be hosting soirees.

Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Amsterdam is an ideal city to welcome in the New Year, whether you’re a party animal, romantic or balling on a budget. This capital city welcomes in the year with fireworks (of course!) that are set off around the town. From nearby bridges and embankments, lively crowds gather to watch the colourful show and smash champagne bottles in celebration. You’ll find fellow partygoers packing out the restaurants, bars and clubs near the Old Town Square, so head there to let the good times roll.
